Manukorihi

 

The Manukorihi Golf Club is situated approximately 4kms inland from the north Taranaki town of Waitara or a 15 minute drive north from New Plymouth on State Highway 3,cross the Waitara river ,take the first turn right,2kms. inland ,left into Wills Road brings you to another of Taranakis pleasant golfing surprises.
 
Surrounded by the lush Taranaki farm land the Manukorihi Golf Club has been  operating at its present site since 1970, the club being formed in 1904.
 
The present membership is approximately 300 . Men (club days Saturday),Women (club daysTuesday 9-.am. and Saturdays 9-30a.m to10-30a.m. ) a 9 hole adjunct and junior coaching are also catered for.
 
 
A recently renovated clubhouse offers food and bar facilities along with ample parking and powered caravan sites cater for anyone wishing to stay handy to the course
 
The course (5678 mtrs.for men, 4914 mtrs. for women ) is easy walking being mainly flat with a couple of small hills adding  to the 5x par 5s, 8 par 4s,and 5 par 3s
 
The ninth and eleventh par threes require accurate tee shots while the long hitter is catered for with many of the par 4s and 5s An abundance of trees add to the scenery but also provide a challenge to anyone who strays from any of the fairways.
 
The club hosts a mid monthly tournament on the second Thursday of the month ,entry fee being $8 dollars as well as a Tuesday night twilight 9 hole competition with a $4 dollar entry fee running from October thru to March.
As well as the normal hampers and tournaments held throughout the year the club holds its popular Whitebait tournament usually towards the end of October each year .A popular mixed Vets tournament is held in January and April ,while the Taranaki lefties play in March .
